Sabots is a fine old house with plenty of space and excellent facilities. We ate at the restaurant twice on fine dining evenings and both meals were excellent. The chateau also offers speciality evenings during the week and BBQ on Sunday lunchtime, which we were unfortunately unable to enjoy. The chef was very accommodating for any dietary needs. The bar was cosy but with an excellent selection of cocktails, aperitifs and the wine list was varied with a French/international flavour. The gin and tonic and Sancerre were excellent.Nothing was to much trouble for the owners (Bill and Kevin) and Richard the chef.
Ate in the restaurant 3 times when we were staying at Le Trincou Summerhouse in the grounds of the chateau. All 3 meals were excellent - we went to the curry night and twice to the "normal" dinner evenings. The weather allowed us to be on the terrace all 3 nights and watching the setting sun across the park made the evenings even more magical. All the food was delicious and it is difficult to pick out any highlights, although the Naan bread on the curry night was special. Can't wait to go back next year.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner and spent lovely evening at the restaurant during our stay in a lovely house in the village. The ambience of this lovely place together with a warm welcome and excellent and efficient friendly service added to our enjoyment of a special holiday. Perhaps our next visit to the area will include a stay for a night or two to enjoy this beautiful hotel more fully.
We went twice a week all summer long so need I say more ! We went with our 14 year old son and we also went with friends. Kevin and Bill are the perfect hosts, always making us feel so welcome and putting themselves out to accommodate our needs. A rare blend of both sophistication and relaxation. The setting is divine - a beautiful wide terrace overlooking the countryside, where sometimes you may see deer. A choice of champagnes by the glass, beautifully set tables, high quality glassware and crockery and great food. A beautiful interior dining room when the weather is not so good. Richard, the chef is brilliant and always comes to say hello to guests at the end of service. Excellent Value for such a beautiful chateau - a privilege to be in what is their their home.
We ate here four years ago and enjoyed it so much, were keen to return on our next visit to the area. We were not disappointed. The chateau is in a beautiful setting and we were welcomed at the door. The weather was a little cooler than average for August so we ate inside after drinks on the terrace. The food was every bit as good as we recalled from before with fresh local ingredients producing superb texture and flavour combinations that also had great eye appeal. Black garlic was my culinary lesson from this trip; utterly delicious in chicken! Since our last visit, the restaurant offers gourmet burger night, curry night and other such themed evenings but I would recommend Friday or Saturday for really good traditional French food.
