Sweet Maria's - Waterbury

I am very upset I had to make this review on one of my favorite cake shops. I usually order a vanilla strawberry cake for life events. This time I had spend around $60, I was excited thinking it would taste how it would over the other years. But I was metwith three huge inches of frosting smeared around the cake, and little to no actual cake. The frosting on the outside tastedcheap. Not the same quality as the whipped frosting between the strawberry layers. There was little strawberries.. thestrawberries were the best part with the whipped cream but I had very little of that. 80% of the cake had the cheap awfulfrosting that supermarket bakeries sell on cookie cakes. You know the one I?m talking about. I?m very upset, I should have justspent money on the smaller cake. ????

We got our wedding cake from Sweet Maria?s and it was delicious and beautiful. Such an easy process to work with the team there. We were very pleased with how the cake came out!

We 've been Maria 's Sweeties since we moved to CT almost ten years ago. The cakes are phenomenal. I was always a frosting and filling girl cake was just the material that held everything together but Sweet Maria 's cakes are so moist and flavorful that the cake alone is worth eating, too! As good as the cakes taste, we are big celebrators, and we go for themed birthday (or other occasion cake when the opportunity arises. Diane is a genius! So creative and artistic! One of my favorites was a pirate themed cake for my husband 's birthday a few years back. There was a ship in the distance, a treasure box full of gold coins on a beachhead, two pirates in full garb (looking suspiciously like PopPop and our granddaughter! , and along the sides ocean waves. It was exquisite! Another gem was a Hairspray (the musical cake with the birthday girl 's name spelled out in the show 's logo blocks over huge 60 's style flip hair and, along the sides, cans of hair spray in action. The taste of the cakes is really incredible. Not overly sweet, so it appeals to grown up palates. The cookies, including the fabulous biscotti, are great to give as hostess gifts and to treat yourself as well. Lately there are other confections to enjoy too chocolate dipped goodies, French macarons (Yay, Kellie! , and beautifully realized cupcakes and cake in a cup. One of my favorite ways to spend a morning is to sit in the beautiful little side room of the bakery with a cup of coffee and some goodies, and if time permits spend a few minutes with Maria, Kellie, Diane and the rest of the Sweet Things. It 's no surprise when in anticipation of a party, my 'scattered across the tri state area ' family always asks 'Will you bring the cake? '

Awesome. Cake. Had them make my wedding cake. It came out better then we could imagine. The customer service was out of this world. I recommend this bakery to everyone.
