When I read they are closing at the end of April I made it happen. I ordered online, picked up the food, and trekked it to Chesterfield. I chose the Garlic Peanuts (my favorite bar snack when they were open inside 2nd Shift Brewing) and the Wandering Pig (Locally sourced, roasted pork shoulder with house-made hoisin, Chile sauce, calamansi. Served with steamed jasmine rice, green onion, fried garlic black sesame) which was my favorite dish when I used to eat at the Arsenal location. Listen the pork is still cooked perfectly. It has the bright flavors of the sriracha, the sweetness of the hoisin, and the acidic notes from the calamansi. I don't care if it's real Filipino food or fusion food because it's delicious. The peanuts were nice and garlicky. Glad I got there one last time and this food will be missed.
I was very disappointed. I got the pancit bihon which ONLY tasted very salty. The description of it sounded so good and I added chicken. The chicken was saltier than the vegetables but the whole thing was just too salty and had no other flavors that were identifiable.
Wife ordered Pancit. She enjoyed it. I got the Flying Pig. Very good. We got the extra meat option. I don’t think that’s necessary. Also, next time I wouldn’t mix the food up in the bowl. Everything had good flavor and I would’ve enjoyed it more if they were somewhat separate. It was two meals for me. Dinner and lunch.
Authentic Filipino food. Made a special stop on way to airport after seeing on Diners, Drive-ins Dives. Everything was on point, as good as in the Philippines.
Usually I find Filipino food kind of heavy, but the food here was very well balanced! The chef used a nice balance of pickled and fresh veggies which really complimented the dishes. The chef also talked over and explained all the dishes in detail, which was super nice of him. I'll definitely be back.
