This artisan patisserie in North Melbourne creates a delicious variety of sweet and savory treats with a Sicilian twist. It's surprising and ridiculous to hear some reviewers describe their products as "manufactured" or "mass produced." The kitchen at Dolcetti is even smaller than my inner city living room, but their sweets and limited savory items are the real standouts. The panna cotta vanilla tart is especially heavenly.
Dolcetti is reminiscent of a local village pastry shop in Sicily or your Nonna's kitchen on a Sunday. It boasts the best Italian custard in Melbourne (possibly in all of Australia) and offers authentic family recipes. From traditional biscuits, tortas, bombolone, pizze, ricotta sweets, and nougat, to delicious coffee, Dolcetti has something for everyone. You'll be hooked before you know it - just say Ciao!
Simply the best!!!!<br/ <br/ Marianna is the ultimate 'queen ' of delicious pastries!! Recently tried a fruit pastry with figs...picked from her father 's tree! Dolcetti is authentic...not your mass-produced 'industrial ' cakes/pastries. On a hot Melbourne day her almond granita is bliss.<br/ <br/ It 's my fave place for coffee/something sweet and delicious. I am a happy 'addict ' !!
Dolcetti cannot be faulted for its sweets or coffee. It is perfection in every way. It is 100% authentic Sicilian which uses the best ingredients seasonally.<br/ <br/ My all time favourite is the Budino that usually pops up during winter, it’s so light, yet creamy moorish. <br/ I also love the Mimosa tart that shows up in the summer. The fresh pineapple along with the custard cream offers the most amazing texture. The Ricotta Canoli is to die for, though I think they would be better in the larger original size rather than the smaller type. You always want more!<br/ <br/ The cafe itself is cute, quaint, humble but small. It has an old Italian vibe that offers nostalgia in a city that moves forward for modern. <br/ <br/ Dolcetti can get quite busy on weekends when the weather is nice. There is usually people waiting for a table, but some regulars tend to think they own VIP status believe they can sit there as long as they like, even when they can see people are waiting. Dolcetti only has about 4 tables inside that seat 2 patrons the VIP crew love to join the tables hog up the space act like they own the place.<br/ <br/ Customer service is quite polite very accommodating from the Baristas. They usually have a beautiful nature beautiful personalities. I do believe that the owner can pick choose who she is friendly with if you are not in ‘the know’ she won’t make effort to say hi or greet you. Sadly, getting her attention depends on who you are, which is a shame. It can make you feel unappreciated as a customer when she greets makes conversation with others doesn’t even give<br/ you eye contact. <br/ <br/ Overall perfect sweets, gorgeous whole cakes but it could be friendlier.
