Authentic Shaanxi street food with great service. You should try it out.
It’s the place to go if you have tried Shaanxi’ food before. Tasty of everything.
WHEN: 1/21/22 Shaanxi Datang is 100% the most underrated sichuan restaurant. Every time I come home to LA I tell my family I want to eat here because no other place has noodles this good and this affordable and with such big portions. It's a family owned eatery and on any given day you can see the daughter doing her homework on one of the tables while father cooks in the kitchen and the mom serves the food. If you walk into any restaurant and see this, know the foods gonna hit. What we usually get: A02. Spicy Cold Steamed Noodle w/ Sesame Sauce $7) liang pi! My favorite cold noodles with vinegary and peanutty flavors so good! C14. Hot Boiled Fish Fillet $15) huge massive bowl of boiled fish, very very spicy D06. Chili Oil Noodle w/ Lamb add on $13) hands down the best dish. Hand pulled biang biang noodles served in a similar spicy vinegar sauce as the liang pi but with tender pieces of lamb. Hits the spot every time. Shaanxi Datang is consistent, cheap, fast, friendly, and always delicious. I wish more people would try them out. The outside may not seem like much but please support this business. I really don't want them to shut down
DELICIOUS FOOD. I go to this plaza all the time, but never even noticed this place. I'm glad I got to go with someone who suggested it since it's my first time trying cuisine from this region. What I've learned recently is to always get the dishes that are unique to whatever regional cuisine the restaurant gets it's namesake from or whatever they specialize in since so many Chinese restaurants offer a smorgasbord of almost everything under the sun (that means whatever Americanized styled dishes that you're craving for! We got the: 1 Shanxi Spicy Cold Steamed Noodle: -YOU HAVE TO GET THIS. IT'S ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, SO SO GOOD. -It's a specialty from this region and even as I'm typing this I'm drooling at the thought of eating it again. -The noodles are very doughy, and bready and soaked up all the sauces to the point of being soggy, but the texture still had some chewiness to it, despite the softness. Perfection. -Crunchy thinly sliced cucumber and beansprouts and pieces of bread also soaked up the cilantro sauce wonderfully. The spiciness wasn't too strong, so I could inhale everything. 2 Qishan Spicy Pork Minced Burger: -With the slight dryness of the bread, the moist and tender pork, along with the chili oil made a great combination. 3 Lamb Pita Bread Lamb Soup: -Lamb was moist and slid right off the bone. -Lots of clear noodle and not gonna lie, this is the first time I've EVER had soup with bread in it (that's not croutons . -The bread, although soggy, soaked up the soup nicely and added to the doughy texture (as it's supposed to be . -Interesting dish and if I wasn't so fixated on the other noodles, I would have eaten much more of this. 4 Shangxi pepper Chili Soup: -Lots, lots, lots of veggies (carrots, cabbage, and green beans ! -Thick consistency soup (cringe, but I really just wanted to use it as sauce on rice , but it came with so much. -Came out super hot and it wasn't spicy either. Kinda sour, not too salty, and a bit peppery. -Also had lots of meatballs in it too. Very unique meatballs with some doughy bread in it too. Definitely a different texture from what I'm used to. Opened super late in comparison to other restaurants in the area and the food is also affordable. Portions are pretty huge too and we ended up taking both soups to go. Definitely coming back to try more and to get more of those amazing noodles.
