It was ok but for such an apparent high market shop the cafe doesn't match the standards of when you buy something in the store. Too self service, the cutlery napkins etc are too far away from the till point. If you like being served on a lot especially as no cafes are really that cheap anymore at the centre then don't bother go elsewhere such as muffin break or waterstones cafe if you like all the essentials to be given to you or close by to where you pay or both.
Something a famous gentleman said about I have started so I will finish but today I just couldn’t . Debenhams in the past when we have visited other shops have had a not bad cafe but I am so sorry to say that the quality of food has gone downhill ...I can only speak about the breakfast . Cheap it was but maybe charge more and produce better quality? Yes it states scrambled egg so hard luck if you want fried or poached with your breakfast. The service was swift give them their due but it’s not the worst breakfast we have had but it’s certainly close to it. The sausage was too strongly flavoured for a breakfast sausage and it was over cooked . The bacon had been cooked to death and was hard to cut and leather like . The scrambled egg well not my favourite option but was okay. The beans well another plus not too many of them but maybe just serve on the plate rather than in a small dish ? Mushrooms not sure how they were cooked but not inviting and the tomato was okay. My hubby said his toast was okay but mine was a little hard and then one little butter pack ran out of the wrapper and had to ask for more to cover the toast. Now those who follow my reviews know that I give fair reviews . Yes we could have complained and addressed it at the time but to fair , we didn’t think anyone would be that bothered. The saying “ what’s cheap doesn’t work and what works isn’t always cheap” Cheap can work if made with love and this breakfast certainly wasn’t. Glad we didn’t pay more. Please Debenhams help restore faith . We were in shopping and needed to eat.
We always seemed to hit this Cafe when it was really busy and consequently service was slow. It was less so on this visit and we ordered toasties and scones, tea and coffe for lunch. Service was quick and the food was really nice Mrs J said it was the best scone she had had for a long time. Prices are reasonable too albeit some may find the selection limited we thought it was good for an in store cafe. It is back on our list.
Totally put off by this cafe, very little fresh to eat and even less choice of anything to eat, just the basics, I took my custom elsewhere
Enjoyed my lunch here a baked potato with nacho chilli topping (pictured) only complaint was it was served in a bowl making it hard to cut the potato skin. Decent coffee and a good range of cakes.
