Although the quality of the fish wasn't as high as at Fish Counter, it was still tasty and not too fishy. The fries were exceptional, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Traditional British Breakfast $9.95: I would rate this dish a 3.5 out of 5. It included bacon, eggs, sausage, baked beans, fried tomatoes, hash browns, fried bread, and toast. The fried bread was a revelation, crispy and delicious. The bacon and sausages were flavorful, but the eggs were underseasoned and slightly undercooked. The hash browns were disappointing, mushy and bland. Overall, I would give this restaurant a 4 out of 5 rating for its delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I recommend trying the Fish Chips and Fry Bread.
I used to visit the Diner regularly when I was a student. The ambiance is inviting, the food is delicious, and you get a good portion for your money. I enjoyed every moment spent there, especially the conversations with the helpful and friendly staff. The lady who owns the diner is a gem, as well as her daughter and granddaughter who are both lovely. Despite some staff members having a sarcastic sense of humor, there is no hint of racism. On the contrary, I felt welcomed and pampered. I highly recommend this restaurant for those who appreciate British cuisine and a laid-back atmosphere. The pies, brunch, and Bangers and Mash are all excellent choices, as are the owner's homemade milkshakes.
Today I had breakfast at this restaurant and it was fantastic, just like back home in Ireland. Make sure to ask for the black pudding with it. The server may come across as rude, but it's just British humor that some Canadians might not understand. If you're easily offended by sarcasm, this may not be the place for you. Overall, I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back for breakfast soon.
The Diner offers a traditional British dining experience without the need for a plane ticket. They serve classic dishes like roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and homemade mulligatawny soup. The generous portions and authentic flavors make it a must-try for anyone craving English cuisine. Additionally, they also offer dishes like black pudding and a full English Breakfast. On a return visit, the 6 oz sirloin steak was cooked to perfection with a side of fried onions, mushrooms, roasted potatoes, and vegetables. The comforting and delicious meals make The Diner a top choice for a taste of England.
I absolutely adore this restaurant. It feels like dining at your beloved grandmother's house. It never fails to impress and has the timeless charm of a classic diner. If you haven't had the chance to experience the Aristocrat, which used to be located at Broadway and Granville but is now Chapters, you must try this place. Just take a look at the inviting front window!
