We should have read the warning signs...... badly kept terrace out front, poorly maintained, litter everywhere, cigarette ends, broken slabs, long grass etc. Food was just awful, dead fly found in the chilli, stale bread, some items looked days old. Drinks not much better; lemonade was out of a Tesco's value plastic bottle. It wasn't even cheap! Please save your money and go elsewhere. Honestly the worst pub we've been to in the country.
Visited Portland Bill on a bit of going down memory lane decided to call in to the Pulpit for a coffee and something to eat, the good thing was I could take my dog in. Ordered a bacon, Brie and cranberry sandwich and coffee sat down to wait, eventually a young girl came over and asked if I was waiting for something I answered yes and was bought my coffee well a teapot of hot water a sachet of coffee and a jug of milk no teaspoon I had to get that myself, I then saw my sandwich was being bought out I took it to the table myself, it was almost cold even just being bought out, the bread was a cheap white sliced on the menu it says white, brown or bloomer, I didn’t get a choice. Whilst waiting a young lad at the bar was saying how his Mother had messaged him this morning asking him to stop f…..g being sick down the toilet hardly what yo want to hear) the language between the staff did leave much to be desired an awful lot of f…..g in their conversations not really what customers want to hear.I really couldn’t recommend this as a stopping point.
Very nice room. Staff were accommodating. The room was very clean with everything available. Would recommend this B&B. Views are amazing. The lady who runs the bar was absolutely amazing. Break was was 5 stars. The views from breakfast area is beautiful. This Pub and B&B deserves more credit ! Ignore all the negative comments. Ohhh and to add they cater for Vegans which is a bonus !! Will be back. Advice would be to bring a hair dryer though. It’s unfair that idiotic people steal them from the rooms !!
Disabled entry bad had to go over gravel , weeds to get to slope with wheelchair . Chap behind bar not very welcoming. Something was missing inside very empty looking Member of family wanted a cup of tea. He said machine broke , you could ask waitress to put kettle on to make a cup. Asked her had a funny look off her. She did put kettle on but we never received it. glad we hadn't paid for it. Didn't feel like eating there once we sat down with drinks. Won't be going back or recommending it to anyone. Outside photos of garden is nothing like it is, full of weeds.
The most southerly inn in Dorset The Pulpit Inn is situated just a few hundred yards from Portland Bill lighthouse and has excellent views over the channel from both the terrace outside and from the windows in the bar. There is also provision for camping in the grounds and bed and breakfast accommodation is also available. The pub is dog friendly but due to a flight of steps to the entrance and terrace is not really disabled friendly however there is a side entrance past the toilets which allows one step access to the bar. We went there for an early dinner as the inn shuts fairly early in the day and were very pleased with the quantity and quality of the food. It was very reasonably priced and despite it being a very busy day the food arrived quite quickly. The staff are all polite and cheerful and the surroundings in the bar are pleasant.
