Pepper Lane Chippy - Wigan

The chips were delicious, the customer service was excellent. The fish was flavorful and not too heavy, and the gravy was rich and tasty. I can't wait to come back again.

I took a senior couple to this restaurant to get a simple order of chips. However, I was disappointed to find that the small tray we received for £3 contained only a single scoop of chips, which was not even a sufficient amount for one person. Considering that the restaurant purchases chips in bulk, I expected a larger portion for the price. Most other chip shops offer a much larger bag of chips for the same price, so I felt that the owner was being greedy.

I had a meat pie, chips, and curry meal with a can of Coke for £8.20. The food was very enjoyable, but it ended up being the most expensive chip shop in Greater Manchester. Unfortunately, I can't afford to come back.

Excellent food. On the expensive side but large portions (more than enough for me! The fish was particularly nice. Will use again!

We live in Abram and therefore for many years we ate ours in the car outside the chippy rather than take them home and become soggy and unpalatable. A considerable travelling distance, but we were prepared to travel around 14 miles for the normally brilliant quality of the product. Things I am afraid have deteriorated substantially. The cost of our meal was normally around £13 for two portions of fish chips and one large carton of peas for me, I was astonished to be charged £19 for the exact some meal, what was even more of a disgrace is the fact that the chips are now served in an ultra small tray, at least halving the past portion size and the fish portion reduced and poorly cooked. Pepper Lane chippy has now lost our custom for ever we will not return to a chippy that was once the best in the Wigan area. We could almost understand the price increase due to the state of our nations finances, but the flagrant reduction in the portion sizes is really a step too far, you have let your customers down and are trying to scam your clients.
