Feedback gevenAs always, a fabulous museum with enthusiastic and scientific volunteers. thanks especially to stewart brown, an ex-mineral that gave us an interesting and personal living in the industry. his report on the great strike in 1984/85 was particularly interesting. He can keep entertaining the visitors for a long time. also the volunteers who gave us a tour through the wind engine, so we get a closer look than the visitors usually get. a crunchy day outside, just slightly ruined by the terrifying weather.
I had a wonderful time at the steam rally today! The staff was pleasant, courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was a great day for the whole family. I highly recommend it, as it was both fun and educational.
I brought my Cub Scouts here and it was absolutely amazing. The museum is great and the passion of the volunteers is top notch. If you're curious about mining heritage this is a must see!
If they are interested in industrial inheritance, this place is worth a visit. the opening times are limited, as the museum is completely run by volunteers who are very welcoming and informative. the entry is free, although a donation appears only fair. the main attractions are the motorhome with its enormous steam-winding motor and the last remaining dug head in the lancashire kohlenfeld. there is also a small narrow track and a collection of mining facilities.
We went to the annual steam fair as a family (mum, sister, brother and neffen and niee). that is not a massive museum, and I had expected it to be an hour or so, and then everyone would want to go home. I was seriously wrong with this assumption. the steam fair was absolutely fantastic and the credit for it is 100% up to all the volunteers in the museum and the amazing event they were putting on (together with all exhibitors). they had enough historical vehicles on the fair to be interesting and the exhibitors were all super friendly. the two men who had the orange steam car were absolutely fantastic, they spent the whole day literally and gave the people free driving on the lkw (they did the day for my neffen and not, so if they have ever read that, then thank you). as I said, they have no massive amount of oldtimers (compared to the big events like the dorset steam fair), but what completely beaten it from the park was the voluntary. they have bent absolutely backwards to make this event a hit. we spent more money than we planned, but we were so happy to spend every minute with it. tee and coffee were just £1, crispy were £0.40, a chocolateable was £0.50 and a pint was £3. and we don't forget that an ice cone was just £1. it felt like going back to the late 80s or early 90s when it was fun to go to such events. this event was fantastic worth for money. all are looking forward to the new one next year. keep the good work and all the volunteers who read it thanks to for the day such a special event.
