I tried the seafood platter, and the crab cake was bursting with flavor. My husband ordered the special, which was pig feet, and he really enjoyed them.
I ordered the 4-piece chicken and 4 shrimp, and both were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The greens were also delicious. The corn pudding was quite sweet; initially, I thought I wouldn’t want any more, but after taking another bite, it wasn’t as sweet, so I’ll finish it tomorrow. In the photo, you only see 3 shrimp because I couldn’t resist trying one while sitting in the car!
The kitchen was bustling with a team of talented cooks, and the food was outstanding. This place deserves a spot on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." I ordered the fried wingettes, which I felt could have been served as whole wings given the price, but the amazing taste and those scrumptious biscuits made me forget about the cost. I also tried the fried shrimp, collard greens (which I usually don't care for, but they were fantastic), and yams that I wish I could replicate at home. My husband had the fried chicken livers smothered in onions and gravy, along with mashed potatoes and cabbage. Everything was incredibly delicious! Don't let the photos fool you; we brought home a lot of leftovers. The tea and Kool-Aid were sweet and reminded me of my childhood. We opted for dining in because everyone was so friendly, although takeout is available too; I'm not sure about delivery options. If you're in the mood for some genuine Southern soul food in Williamsburg, make your way to Corey's—it's absolutely worth the trip and will definitely become a regular stop for us in the future!
Okay... Everybody reading the reviews are saying what's all the hype about in these reviews. Well the real story is all the food is homemade and delicious!! Every customer that was sitting eating raved about their food. I had the pork chops dinner..two nice sized pork chops with sides of mashed potatoes and yams and they were fantastic!! Other people in the restaurant raved about their own food also, the Whiting, Catfish and of course the freshly made fried chicken.. All the food fresh made and looked delicious. One of the most pleasant experiences about my short wait for fresh cooked food was meeting Corey himself. He is very proud of his family and the recipes and great quality of food, and rightfully so!!! Go ahead and try this great little place before it gets on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives because it will!!! Family ran and operated serving awesome home cooked food like you are a guest in the kitchen of their home!! By the way that is Corey himself in the picture under the sign, say hello to him when you are there.
Friendly staff, reasonable wait time, but THE FOOD! Please come here and get yourself some of the best food I?ve ever had. Collards with enough pot likker to dip that biscuit in, mac and cheese spot on, and the chicken crispy outside, juicy inside ? perfect.
