What an amazing find, we were on our way back to Bristol from Brighton and needed a break when we saw the sign for The Rainbow on the Lake, it sounded lovely and it was. We ended up staying for lunch and it was delicious, great value for money, very filling, we didn’t eat again for the rest of the day. The owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, it was the most pleasant part of our journey, could have stayed all day with those lovely views of the swans on the lake, Would definitely visit again.
I typically don't write reviews, but the hospitality we experienced at this family-owned pub was so inviting that I felt compelled to share. It felt more like visiting friends than dining out. The food was incredibly delicious, made fresh in-house with generous portions. The pub is situated in a charming location with a great atmosphere. Overall, it's definitely worth making a special trip to visit the Rainbow on the Lake.
I went to this restaurant with my daughter for Sunday lunch and it was a truly terrible experience. We ordered the mixed meat roast and it was disappointing. The beef was tough and chewy, the pork was bland, and the chicken was dry. The gravy was watery, and the potatoes and parsnips were overcooked and hard. The pub itself was in poor condition, with cobwebs and dust hanging from the aging decorations. I will not be returning and I recommend avoiding this place.
We stopped off on our travels for some dinner. They were close to shutting but accommodated us. For was nice for pub food and the owners were lovely. Yes it’s dated but owners were hard working to keep there business going after covid days.
