The Square By Coffee Lab - Winchester

Now Honey and Harvey. Very pleasant and helpful staff sausage bap lovely! I asked for the sausage to be well cooked and the waiter immediately said not a problem. It was a lovely bap and worth the money. Glad to see this is now back to what it was as a cafe.

The refurb has stripped this cafe of all character, replacing it with a sterile, cold atmosphere. This once friendly, bustling cafe with friendly, chatty staff is now pretentious and overpriced. Some of the staff were actually rude, whilst others were disinterested. The staff behind the counter were welcoming. The coffees we ordered were barely drinkable as they were luke warm when they finally arrived. The lady at the counter gave me an order number to display on our table for the food order, but the waiter didn’t have the number so he had to wander around the restaurant calling out the order!? The “ head waiter” treated customers as an inconvenience. I didn’t see him actually do anything other than stomp about, asking staff and customers what they were doing!!! We will not be wasting our time or money here again.

Gave this place the benefit of the doubt after the new refurb (new name, everything else exactly the same to be honest). Tried this place years ago and had the worst cake of my life. Could not believe my luck, that the cake once again was absolutely awful. I’m the least fussy person ever and I couldn’t even stomach it. I’ve never sent back food in my life, but we had no choice. It was the driest cake ever, almost tasted frozen. Service is poor, the amount of times the poor waitresses had to constantly apologise to all the tables. They’ve got so much wrong is this place needs massive improvement. Will never return.

This has recently been refurbished and the menu changed but it’s unfortunately no improvement. It is now overpriced, the portions are much smaller. The service isn’t great. We used to go regularly. We don’t go there anymore.

Consistently good. Really enjoyed under the previous ownership and Co thing to be delighted under H H. Avo on sourdough 2 flat whites. Delicious snack after a walk round St Catherine’s Hill. Seating outside watching the world go by feeding Tod bits of sausages to the dogs. Staff here are lovely, excellent customer service. Nice clean facilities, even when they’re busy : Will be returning more regularly.
