Definitely coming back with more friends and family.
I have very fond memories of Archee 's, especially one special night. I was hoping to have a meal next door in Pizza Express but was told it was fully booked. Somewhat confused as there wasn 't a soul in the place, I wandered next door into Archee 's and my life was to change forever. Sitting outside with my chilli McCoys and pint of Kronenbourg, Joe the young barman asked why I was smoking outside in the cold as the smoking ban wouldn 't arrive for another 6 years. He helped me moved my crisps, drink, ashtray and umbrella inside and I joined a friendly group by the window. We smoked merrily away, for these were the days before it was harmful to your health, and discussed England 's prospects to get to Japan and South Korea, the following year. I was poohpoohed (good naturedly) when I extolled the virtues of Emile Heskey and said he would be key in beating Germany 5-1 next September. At the Olympische Stadion?! teased Graham, Jimmy Hill! Chinny reck-on!! . Admitting my prediction was unlikely, I suggested a round to smooth the waters. Returning from the bar with another Kronenbourg, Carling Premier for Marina, Carling for Graham (he was driving) and some Frazzles, I noticed three people sprinting past the window in the direction of Pizza Express. If ladies do not perspire, they glow, these two young girls were lighting up the street. They must have run a long way and were desperate for a Sloppy Giuseppe, maybe an ice cream. Their Dad, however, he was just, so... dashing. He 'd sprinted all the way from the blacked out Range Rover, yet there wasn 't a hair out of place, not a drop of sweat to be seen. Our lovely lovely cigarettes drooped from our lips. Marina broke the silence. Isn 't that... His Royal Highness , I interjected. Prince Andrew? , finished Graham. We swooned. It couldn 't be, could it? I 'd never seen him round these parts. I 'd heard he never had reason to be here. Yet there he was, hacking up phlegm, bent double from the sprint, yet completely dry. I would remember this day forever. I looked at my watch. It was 8.05pm, March 2001.
My wife and I visited Archees Bar after attending a show at the Woking theatre. We were warmly welcomed by Joe the bartender, and enjoyed a few drinks while chatting with another couple at the bar. Joe asked us about our music preferences, and he definitely played the right tunes for us. It was our first time at this bar, but we will definitely be returning in the future. A big thank you to Joe for a great night, and for running down the road to return my wife's umbrella that she had left behind as it started to rain. Not many bartenders would go that extra mile. Thanks Archees, thanks Joe! We'll see you again soon. Jaco and Sarah.
I live in Woking and have visited Archees bar a few times, with my most recent visit prompting me to write this review. I was taken aback by the complete lack of customer service and friendliness from the owner who doubled as the bartender. I am surprised that this establishment is able to stay in business. If you are not a regular customer, I would suggest finding another bar where you will be greeted warmly and receive great service. I do not plan on returning to this place.
This is an excellent spot for watching football games. The staff at V-Bar are welcoming and offer a wide selection of drinks. The bar is a decent size and there is ample seating available.
