Great friendly service from the guys here! Didn't think my chicken salad was worth $11 though. It was in a big container was probably about quarter full, it was also drenched in sauce, not dressing! Had to tip liquid out when i got home because it was so soggy. But the tacos were good on the other hand. The ingredients they use are different from mad mex and other mexican places, quite refreshing etc.
Is it me or has Mexican food become pretty popular? Seems to me like Mexican is the new Organic . I 'm not exactly an expert on my Mexican food but I was thoroughly impressed with this place after taking away from there at lunch time. I grabbed a cheeky grabone voucher for a burrito. The asadero steak choice was so tasty with a level of spice that continued as you ate it, but didn 't compound to become unbearable. It is priced similarly to Mad Mex and Mexicali Fresh, however it was way tastier. The staff were getting slammed but were still friendly which was good to see. The main options available are burrito, tacos (crispy or soft), burrito salad and quesadilla. At $11 I will definitely come back and try another choice.
Tried a burrito from chilando. Very good and polite service but not the best quality. Made well but just didn't have that kick you normally get from good quality tex mex, was a lot of rice and that was the main component in taste in the burrito. Atmosphere not the best either. Wouldn't rush back.
To any foodie who has visited the US before, here 's a succinct version of my review. Chilando is basically Auckland 's version of Chipotle sans the long lunch time queue. The menu of seemingly healthy tacos, burritos, burrito bowls and salads, is reminiscent of the American-Mexican Grill chain. And similarly, pricing is reasonable with regular burritos, bowls and salads for $10.50. I quite enjoyed my spicy chicken burrito bowl at Chilando. For the uninitiated, this is a burrito that 's been stripped off its tortilla and thrown into a bowl. And this is a good place to try it. Their fresh ingredients make for a delicious and guilt-free meal. My only gripe with Chilando is that, like many other places in the city, they charge extra for the guacamole. The service was friendly and polite. Also, since the ingredients are ready to be thrown into a burrito, grabbing a bite from here doesn 't take that long!
