This restaurant in Markham is one of the few Izakaya places in the area, so you don't have to travel all the way down to Yonge and Finch/Sheppard to get your fix. Not only do they offer a unique dish called Oden (Korean Fishcake Soup), but they also serve a variety of Japanese and Korean dishes like sushi, Special Maki, Kalbi, Bulgogi, and Tonkatsu. The restaurant is open until 2:00, just like many other Izakaya establishments. It's usually not too crowded except on weekend nights, and best of all, parking is free.
I absolutely loved the interior design of this restaurant! The sushi chefs were positioned on a higher platform, allowing them to keep an eye on all the customers. The restaurant seating was arranged in quadrants, with wooden partitions between each party. It was such a nice touch! We ordered a variety of izakaya dishes to share and I was impressed by the diverse selection of Japanese and Korean food on the menu. We enjoyed sushi, udon, ramen, hot pot, okonomiyaki, and many more izakaya dishes. The Edamame was the first dish to arrive and it was a generous portion, although the beans were a bit firm for my liking. The Nagasaki Chanpon was a flavorful pork broth with vegetables, pork, and seafood, perfect for a cold winter day. The Okonomiyaki was tasty with Japanese mayonnaise, vegetables, and slices of pork. The Karaage was crispy but lacked spices for my taste, although the green onion soy sauce was a nice touch. The Tamago Mushi, a Korean-style steamed egg with shrimp, was comforting and delicious with a clear broth. The Tsuki Roll was a standout, made with purple rice and topped with raw scallop, just the way I like it. Overall, I had a great dining experience and would definitely come back in the future. The service was attentive and the server checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything or to clear empty dishes from our table.
For the first time on a Sunday evening sung to Tsuki since the planned restaurant was full. He wasn't busy. Only 2 servers worked. You have set yourself by a server that has left us with 1 menu and left. Table... was not set and did not even ask if we want some water. Let's get our arms to catch their attention to finally fix the order. Table not yet set and no water. When the water finally came, it came with the rice that should go with the sharpness that I had ordered; but no, no sashimi in sight for another time around the time of rice has gone cold. It seems that the servers have not taken care of how the customers were served as long as they get their food. The food was good. In everything, no good experience and will not return.
I was there later an evening hunting for a nice asian/japanese style soup. Waiters very friendly and attentive, no issues here and the menue is plentyful and covering a lot of different asian style dishes. The soup I ordered had a broth with a really...nice and authentic taste, including a nice input of meat slices and some veggies. However the ramen noodles were still not completely soft and cooked, so I needed to wait until tender which made the soup cool down a bit more. However, the taste was still very nice and the amount was really satisfying. All in all a slight spot on the overall performance, but I would go there again.
