Die Weinstube im Hotel Nicolay 1881 - 100% vegan

You don't have to be a vegan to feel comfortable in Nicolay! We stayed at the hotel for a week and felt comfortable. Vegans are here, of course, in paradise, but also all others will taste the food excellent – we have not missed anything, on the contrary. The house lives the charm of a traditional hotel in family hand, which is gradually renovated. Our rooms were large, bright, clean, quiet – all the best. The son of the house is a persuasive and pardoned chef who, with his wife, forms a cordial team. His parents, obviously hoteliers with body and soul, support the two with their experience and also through very practical work now, where the lack of staff makes hotels and restaurants hard everywhere. But you don't notice anything in the Nicolay: it was always a good mood that transfers to the guests, and there was always time for a friendly chat and the one or other tip to the beautiful Moseltal and the winemakers on site. Without the Nicolay, Zeltingen would only be one of the numerous winegrowers on the Moselle; the unique Nicolay makes the difference! Thanks for the nice week! We are looking forward to exploring the spacious sauna area next time.

A great hotel that is lovingly guided with heart. The food is excellent, the situation could not be better. There are beautiful hiking trails everywhere and the surrounding area offers plenty of space for recreation. The sauna, the gym and the entire ambience are wonderful. The furnishings of the hotel and the rooms are full of charm — here you feel very welcome! Moreover, it is great that the hotel is so dog-friendly:

... after a long time thinking, I decided to write a review, even if it will be quoted to the owner “Veganwurst”. Those who like to have clean rooms, no matter how much a room has come in the years or whether it has been renovated, are unfortunately at the wrong address here. I am not talking about dust or “round corners” from plastering, but old bathroom utensils from the pre-inhabitant, unclean bathrooms and dirty linens. One of the criteria mentioned can happen in stressful times or in case of staff failure or lack of personnel, but may not happen for the room price charged. The food was well prepared, but no more. The wide variety of breakfast buffets kept within limits, it was a huge effort to get a coffee before our planned breakfast time. It is really great that this hotel is a purely vegan hotel with a purely vegan concept. But whoever rests on a won price, tells us as a guest himself that he has no one who will take over the hotel and is therefore our well-meaned feedback “Veganwurst”... It really counts the days down to the closing.

I've been quite disappointed by the hotel. We stayed for 2 nights over Pentecost on site, 2 persons with a small dog. The room has a very old equipment, especially the bathroom has come very years, on the balcony stood the classic white plastic chairs, charm did not really come up. On the first evening we booked a 4-course menu and had to wait one hour for the first walk. I also complained after that, as a justification I was called a lack of personnel. Basically, I can understand this, but it is a kind of communication. Also I had to order a glass of wine 2x as it was forgotten. The quality of the food was very good. Sunday brunch and breakfast also, here is a big compliment. On Sunday evening we were four in the restaurant and unfortunately the service left to wish again. We had to ask 2x for a portion of olive oil and instead of a bottle of wine we got grape juice. The accumulation of these mistakes in combination with the living room and the yet high price, upset us and we will not come back. I have also expressed some of this criticism personally on site and would have made it even more, but I was not asked how I liked it at check out. Addendum: I have now received a letter that an application for the removal of this assessment has been made. Rating and booking were made under the same name, so I am more than amazed that the hotel tries to delete under the pretext that the rating cannot be assigned.

With charm and cordiality. Food was great, all the people who were working there were cordial, communicative and very before coming. The room was simple and cozy and exactly what you need at the end of a long day, irritable and a super cozy bed. Also my little dog was welcome everywhere, so I can only describe my holiday as perfect and next time will bring much more time.
