Feedback gevenI was surprised by the variety of mountain vegetables picked by the owner of the restaurant near Kakunodate. The local men seemed to be enjoying themselves early in the day, and the owner recommended some local sake to go with the dishes. It is a small, local restaurant that I would recommend making a reservation for by phone.
Many tourists who come to Kakunodate often head to the samurai residences street, but I highly recommend also stopping by this area with old-fashioned houses. I stopped by for lunch and tried the popular Hinai-jidori oyakodon and Inaniwa udon, but this restaurant also offers wild vegetable tempura, Hinai-jidori meat udon, and meat soba. My friend raved about the meat soba.
Why not try a bowl of tempura soba with pickles, tea, and coffee for 650 yen here? The owner is very kind, just like a real mother. The place is small, which adds to its charm. Powder the door, you won't regret it!
