The charm of Nagasaki Tei's champon (770 yen) lies in the crispy vegetables that are stir-fried just right, along with the flavor-packed soup made from vegetables, pork, squid, and other ingredients. The broth is rich but light, and pairs perfectly with the thick and smooth noodles. When it comes to eating Nagasaki champon in Fukuoka, Nagasaki Tei is a must-visit. The level of saltiness may vary depending on the location, but I believe they provide almost the same taste. It was very crowded during lunchtime, but this is true for all their stores, which is a testament to the popularity of this delicious dish.
It was a cold lunchtime so we waited for about 10 minutes, but customers continued to arrive after us. A couple in their 40s, we ordered a single portion of champon and a champon set (half fried rice, dumplings, and fried chicken), and we were satisfied with the portion. The champon had plenty of vegetables so even the single portion might be enough. Additionally, the set allows for various choices in contents, which is also a strong point.
"Nagasakitei" has its main branch in Fukushige, and has expanded to five stores including the Yakuin store, Kaburi store, Shinku store, and this Nakagawa store. In the past, I used to travel to the Fukushige main store to eat, but now I only go to the Nakagawa store. The Nagasaki champon has chewy noodles with plenty of pork belly, cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, fish cake, squid, and wood ear mushrooms in a light soup. You can add extra vegetables for 100 yen, which is great for vegetable lovers. If you're still not full, you can also get an extra serving of noodles. The extra noodles are not champon noodles, but ramen noodles. Before the extra noodles arrive, finish off the vegetables and add the red ginger to the noodles - it surprisingly tastes good. While champon is the main dish, the ramen is surprisingly delicious too. The rich soy sauce pork bone-based soup with straight thin noodles is tasty. The onigiri is freshly made after ordering, perfectly seasoned and delicious as a hot onigiri. The gyoza has a soft skin and is delicious in bite-size pieces.
