The large size eel is from Shizuoka, raised in a tank using their own spring water, swimming until just before serving to ensure the best flavor of seasonal fat. It is extremely fresh. It is prepared in the Kanto style, steamed to perfection which takes over 20 minutes. For takeout, it is recommended to reserve a pick-up time in advance. The sauce is a savory and strong teriyaki sauce. Delicious. They also provide extra sauce for takeout, so you can enjoy another bowl of rice with just the remaining sauce. Truly delicious and worthy of its long-standing reputation.
I heard that winter is the best time to enjoy eel. At Koryu, they cook the eel from the tank only after you place your order, so you can confidently order it even in winter.
