Normally, I would leave right away, but this time I waited for the heavy rain to calm down while enjoying some shopping and drinks. There is also an eat-in space available. This shop mainly caters to hikers, but there is also a restaurant where you can enjoy various local products and miscellaneous goods for shopping.
This might be my first time here - I rarely come here when climbing Mount Kujū, so I've never been before, but this time my goal was the pin badges! Wow, there are so many different kinds! There's even ones from Miyanoura, right in the middle of the roof of Kyushu called Kujū! I'd like to conquer them all someday.
I visited on May 1st, but it was a day with bad weather and no view. It was very cold even for this time of year, perhaps due to the high altitude. I tried the rumored soft serve ice cream for 330 yen, and it was indeed delicious with a rich creaminess. Despite the cold, it was worth eating. I'm not sure if it's only at this restaurant or if it's common in Oita, but when I ordered a meat bun, it came with ponzu sauce. It might be good if you eat it by dipping it in the white dough part.
Googleマップでやまなみハイウェイを検索したらピンが立った場所。到着まで峠と知らず、熊本側から来るといろいろ終わった後なので熊本から別府にドライブ予定の方はお気をつけください。 所要時間30分ぐらい楽しめます。
