While it's nice to rent a car, it can be hard to find places to stay in places like Tomakomai or Shizunai to watch the final race. The food here, especially at "Izumi Shokudo" in the gate city, is fantastic, although it can get quite crowded. However, it's relatively easy to grab some soba, making it worth the visit. The level of horse racing here is very high, but many strong horses tend to move to places like Minami Kanto after competing, which can be a bit sad (there isn't a way to consider the prize money). However, horses that move to Minami Kanto can win prize money in exchange games and since the track is close by, many tankas participate in JRA exchange games races, providing a great view. If you visit a Hokkaido racecourse, be sure to place your bets on this race. I want to be a Hokkaido person. Especially in the evenings and at dusk, you can enjoy horse racing with a very beautiful view, so I think the scenery is worth it.
I recently went to a local horse race for the first time in a while. The venue was beautiful and the atmosphere was enjoyable. The 9th race had reasonable prices and I'm looking forward to the 10th and 11th races. It was great to see the local people there.
