The prawn toast and wontons were fried too much and lacked filling, resulting in most of it being thrown away. The battered chicken balls had dry chicken inside. The lemon chicken was decent, but had chunks of thick lemon sauce. They will need to improve their quality in order to attract the customers of the previous establishment. We doubt we will return again.
A spur of the moment takeaway on our way home. Phoned ahead order was ready. We’re not big fans of Chinese takeaways but fancied a change. Great choice, the food was excellent. We ordered spring rolls, they were extremely crispy the sauce was good. Quarter crispy duck, meat was perfect. Kung Po chilli chicken with egg fried rice. This dish was amazing one of the reasons we’re not a fan of takeaway Chinese food is the sauce can be gloopy, this dish was the complete opposite full of flavour no gloop. The prawn crackers were cracking… we won’t hesitate to come back. Thank you Royal China, shame the restaurant is closed.
We wanted to celebrate my daughter’s birthday with a Chinese meal. We chose the Royal China as we have eaten there for many, many years and it was always excellent. Sadly we had the most awful takeaway we’ve ever had. In fact, the food was almost inedible. Salt and pepper chicken was so chewy you couldn’t bite into it. The sauce with the spring rolls was disgusting. The only starter that was ok was the seaweed! Our main courses were so disappointing. One main was wrong. We ordered Kung Po hot chicken but got something else. No idea what it was but it was claggy and tasteless. The others were also the same. In fact they all tasted exactly the same and we just couldn’t eat them. The sweet and sour chicken balls were chunks of tough chewy chicken inside a huge greasy ball and the sauce itself was like jelly! Considering this was a special family meal and it cost us £125 we were gutted. Worst money I’ve ever spent on food. Don’t know if the Royal China has been taken over by new owners but they really need to up their game. We will definitely never eat there again.
Had a takeaway for collection this evening. Chicken all dry and chewy for both dishes with very little sauce or veg through it. Not great, wouldn’t recommend and unlikely to bother again given the price v disappointing.
New Menu available now with even more choices. The All in a box is too delicious and perfect for sharing. Good food with reasonable price. Highly recommend.
