Boffins Restaurant and Bar - Acton

Really enjoyed my meal here! Soup for starter and then kangaroo. Was absolutely delicious and service was very good.

An impromptu dinner was surprisingly very good - the lamb cutlets were superb. Would be good to see rose by the glass.

Located inside ANU's Univeristy House Boffins has been a reliable go-to for a lovely dining experience. The two-course plus wine available to members offers a range to suit all, vegetarian, seafood and meat options. The salmon entree and barramundi main were perfectly cooked, full of flavour and generous servings. Could've done with a bread roll to mop up the sauce. House wine was perfectly acceptable and paired well with the meal.

I have been coming to Boffins on and off for forty years, that is before it became Boffins. Like other reviewers I much prefer a booth. The lunch special menu has always been varied to enough to cope with those on diets, but this time the kitchen got confused about a request for dairy free. The fish came without the sauce but coated in butter. The wait staff noticed that the sparkling wine wasn't sparkling and fetched a new bottle.

We went on a quiet Saturday night. Requested a booth and got it.For entrees, we ordered the Spinach and Potato soup and the scallops. Both were good portions and tasty.For mains, I had the kangaroo. It was most delicious, one of the best dishes I have had in a while. This dish came with moghrabieh, chestnut mushrooms and a butternut mash, and a very nice sauce. It was all very tasty.My partner had the gnocchi which was also very nice.We had the Buckwheat and puffed quinoa salad as a side dish. This also was very nice and tasty. A good combination of ingredients.Service was good, attentive without being overwhelming.They used to serve bread with olive oil and balsamic but this does not happen anymore. Possibly part of cost cutting. They used to be open on Sunday evenings but not anymore.This is still one of our favourite restaurants.
