Its pretty small inside and the waitress wasnt particularly inviting which are the only reasons i havent given it a 5. Its nice inside but small but the japanese katsu curry i had was amazing! Along with the geisha cocktail! It wasnt very expensive with generous serves. Ill definitely be coming back to try their desserts, would give the experience 4.5!
We quite enjoyed the desserts here. We had their matcha roulade and could taste the matcha in the dish. It would be better if the matcha was richer in flavour. We also enjoyed their chocolate lava dish, crepe cakes and strawberry and chocolate waffle. Our only feedback in regards to the waffle was we thought the waffle was kind of soggy.
Nice place to go for desserts with friends. The sticky date pudding is served as two square pieces rather than a round 'pudding ' shape and is a little dry despite the butterscotch sauce. The coconut creme brulee is good if you enjoy the coconut flavour but the serving is very small. The matcha 3 ways is popular, and if you 're a fan of matcha then you will enjoy it the matcha tiramasu has just enough green tea flavour and the matcha creme brulee isn 't too bad either even though it 's weirdly in an eggshell. I actually ordered my birthday cake from here (14 ' square tiramasu cake that costed $65 and $5 for the birthday message so quite cheap compared to other places. If you like coffee and not too sweet cakes, then the tiramasu would suit you :
Finally made a visit to Astonish Patisserie after hearing so much about it. Honestly I'm not sure why this place receives all that rave because the food is not overly impressive, and the service is even less so.<br/ <br/ The restaurant was empty aside from one other table when I visited, so there really was no excuse for the lack of service! I ended up having to go up to the counter to order because the staff just left me at my table and didn't come back to take my order.<br/ <br/ I went with the Latte Crepe Cake $14), which arrived at my table beautifully arranged. There were two slices of crepe cake a dark chocolate and the other one which I assume was the latte flavour. The chocolate slice was topped with a dollop of chocolate cream, and the latte one with vanilla cream and a thick, indulgently sweet sticky caramel, topped with caramel popcorn and corn flakes, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.<br/ <br/ The cakes had wonderful flavour. I loved how they weren't overly sweet. The dark chocolate flavour came through strongly, which, as a dark chocolate lover, I found delightful. Unfortunately, the texture of the crepe really let it down. It was a bit too wet and spongy. I think a fluffy texture would have worked much better in a crepe cake.<br/ <br/ I also took away an Apple Crumble Cheese Cake Box $5). For $5, the slice was a very generous size. I was so excited to dig into it, because the crumble on top looked fantastic. Sadly, the cheesecake was just OK. The crumble was indeed delicious, but the other elements were a bit of a let down. The base was sadly soggy, and the apple chunks on top were this oddly bright yellow colour, and for some strange reason had an artificial flavour despite being very obviously real apple.<br/ <br/ Maybe I just ordered the wrong things, but my visit to Astonish Patisserie was slightly disappointing, and I'm not sure whether I would be returning.
I was really impressed with the waffles over here. Had the banana and salted caramel walffle which was simply divine. The sauce was amazing and were warm as they were freshly made. On other occasions I've also tried the matcha three ways and the Earl Grey cake. The earl grey cake was really good as well. These dessert are always nice to look at and better to eat. Prices are usually pretty reasonable.
