Loves their cakes! they have amazing cakes, tart, brot everything they want for a sugar fixation! the only part is that they don't sell a coffee. but coffee shops are around the place anyway, so no big problem. will definitely come back for other cakes!
Every time I walked past Providore when I made a visit to the markets I would be so drawn by all the tempting sweet treats lining the cabinets. The other day I finally got around to buying a selection of treats from here and sadly they were nowhere near as tasty as they looked. I had high hopes for the Vanilla Slice, but the soggy pastry let it down. The filling and the icing on top were great, but the pastry plays such a big part in this treat I feel like it can't be over looked. The chocolate chip cookie was another let down. It was very hard and crumbly - not the gooey, chewy texture I was looking for. The Portuguese Tart was probably the best of the bunch, although the pastry once again was disappointing. the filling was rather tasty though. One bad item and maybe it could have been bad luck and I just chose the wrong thing, but 3...I don't think I'd be returning.
Hovered around the counter for a long while trying to choose from the wide variety of cakes and pastries on offer. In the end I got a Greek Vanilla Slice and also a Portuguese custard tart. Sat at one of the market tables and made my way through the vanilla slice which was accompanied with a latte from the nearby Zuma Cafe. The slice was fresh with delicate, fluffy pastry and a lovely creamy custard filling. Really enjoyed this. The tart was saved for later, it was also delicious.
I can't get enough of Providore. Long ago, I used to work in the deli at Coles. When I had a late shift on a Friday night, my parents would pick me up and they would buy me a rocky road muffin. I always looked forward to it. Fast forward a few years. I visit Providore as often as I'm in town, and the Central Markets are open. It tends to be every trip. I recently had the apple baked cheesecake. It was amazing - rich, decadent, creamy and full of flavour. Everything a baked cheesecake should be. Check this place out, the range of cakes is overwhelming, but you'll certainly be pleased with whatever you happen to choose. My mum likes buying their whole cakes for birthdays. The prices are fair and the cakes are amazing.
