The grilled pork was delicious, although I was hoping the rice would be broken rice (I've seen this at many Vietnamese restaurants). The signature salad was very refreshing. I only spent $27 on these two generous dishes, making it a very affordable meal in my opinion.
I heard that Zen Kitchen is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a special promotion for a week. As a lover of Vietnamese cuisine, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to finally try out Zen Kitchen, a place I have never been to before. Due to their limited opening hours, we had to come for an early lunch or late lunch. We chose to come during late lunch to avoid the crowds. On Wednesday, we tried their special Vietnamese salad bowl. I ordered the house special while my companion had the spicy lemongrass chicken. Both portions were generous and delicious. We also indulged in their Vietnamese coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and I am looking forward to returning to try more items on their menu.
Phenomenal pho! I decided to order pho for delivery, despite having had some disappointing experiences at other restaurants in the past. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the broth was piping hot and the portions of soup, meat, noodles, and garnishes were just right.
Consistently good Vietnamese food just off Rundle Mall. At lunch time there is a queue for the banh mi but don't be put off it moves quickly. The noodle soups and pho are all really good as are the salads and cold rolls.
It is easy to bypass the Renaissance Arcade, as it's tucked away and not exactly the most attractive dining hub in Adelaide. There are certainly some tasty Asian lunch spots on offer, though. Zen is great, because it is away from the hustle and bustle of the food court. They serve up a nice selection of soups, salads and rolls. <br/ <br/ On the day of our visit, my friend and I both ordered Banh Mi Lemongrass Chicken for her, and Vegetarian for me. Mine was filled with carrot, coriander, fried egg, chilli and garlic butter on a large, crusty bun. Whilst simple, the ingredients worked together, were fresh, and the size more than enough to satisfy my appetite. Well worth a look for a cheap and cheerful meal.
