Can't imagine going there with an older parent, unless there was something like that somewhere when the weather suddenly changed
Unexpected posh space with a fantastic view over Adelboden. We liked the menu and the quality was also friendly fast service. Maybe not super cheap.
Wonderful sunny terrace with a great view, lovely food and its own beer. Definitely worth grabbing lunch there if you are skiing or hiking up there!
Just visited Tschentenalp yesterday as a business brought me to Adelboden. Actually it wanted to go there on Monday, but realized that the only restaurant on this Alp is closed on Tuesday in the middle of the peak season! We managed to get there on Wednesday on a neblig and rather unfriendly day. Being Swiss, living nearby Thun, I already know the wonderful view from the well-established and organized terrace. Despite its chic lounge style, the interior of the restaurant is friendly and cozy enough, but something out of place. We asked about the menu what is another stylish thing that is a bit confused, probably produced by a hip cook without much understanding to write a clear menu. It seemed a famous Mr. Caviezel was on his post in the kitchen. We chose the hamburger not for 28 CHF, but went for a simple fondue as the weather suggested outside. In short, the fondue was perfect. For 56 CHF for 2 people, however, you would expect that there are enough cheese in the kaquelon to make 2 people saturated (we are only average eaters). In fact, it is about half a part that is served when you order fondue in Valais and elsewhere for the same price. Mr. Caviezel's concept seems to be high quality food (high price), very limited choice in a chic atmosphere. “Normalos” have a hard time to find everything at a reasonable price. I'm probably not good when this restaurant is in St. Moritz. The Tschentenalp is a small and fine ski and hiking area and attracts families and all kinds of people, including local villagers. There is no chance to have a lunch with your family unless you bring your very thick wallet and the kids love the chic food without the choice of just frits, spaghetti or some other classics for the modest budget. All in all, it is simply the wrong business concept at the wrong location. Service was friendly and attentive. Despite Mr. Caviezel's somewhat missed efforts, Tschentenalp is recommended as a fine and small jewel in beautiful surroundings.
This mountain restaurant has fantastic views! Very good place for lunch and coffee. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. The quality of food is very good. The place is beautifully decorated and has a cozy feeling. If it is sunny, the terrace is also beautiful.
