I can only rate this with positive words, all were nicely served and they were so delicious and exceptional. every dish was so special, I don't even remember when I had eaten such a good tatar bark like this! I recommend the restaurant to anyone who is close and we are happy to come back.
A group of friends and I decided to try this restaurant as they have experienced a remodel, sometime again the early part around fasnacht, I think. the dining room is very nice made, modern looking and the chairs are very comfortable. someone's been thinking. the remodel. along the rear wall is a big wein store. the personal was friendly and welcoming. we had a house white wine served as aperitif with an excellent white brot (superb crust) from a bakery in the environment. a container of tepenade and a criminal butter accompanied the broth. the wee was nothing special. I had her house hamburger and pommes as a test how the kitchen food prepared. the fries were fresh, hot and very good. cut something on the little side for my taste. the fleischpatty in hamburger was an absolute catastrophe. I've never had a hamburgerpatty so hard and hard. it was also very, very, dry and somewhat too salty due to crimping. the rolls were excellent and coated with a honeycomb jam, salate and tomato. we mentioned the Hockey Puck Patty on the waitress and she said many people complained about it. Apparently the word never reaches the kitchen or the cook is just not important. when we finished our meal, the restaurant was close to capacity and very, very loud. some sound-absorbing materials would go nicely. at some point in the future I could be tempted to give the restaurant a second attempt, but to avoid the hamburgers at all costs.
We had a fantastic dinner here with family visit from Australia. our waitress, jenni, was amazing. she took the time to translate the entire menu for us! she was an excellent waitress for us. eating was really good. beautiful presentation and really delicious. prices. are somewhat more expensive than neighboring restaurants, but the service and the presentation makes this. we look forward to going back.
As i am living in Aesch, i have been o the Restaurant Mühle a couple of times and have never been disappointed. I have been there a few times as a part of a larger group (up to 50 people) and the service was always...top. The food is delicious and very tasty! Weiter so!!!!
What a great surprise. Gasthof Muhle is tucked away in Aesch near Basel. It is a Michelin recommended restaurant for 2012 and well deserving of the recognition. My wife, son and I went there for Mother's day. We were greeted by friendly waiters in black...and white uniform in a restaurant split by a remarkable wine display case and fresh flowers on every table. As our Swiss German is horrible, we were served by the manager, Jean-Daniel Moix, who is fluent in Swiss-German, French, and English. We learned that Mr. Moix spent eight years abroad as a chef, was a chef at this restaurant (evident by a painting of him in chef attire on the wall of the restaurant) and now is the restaurant manger for the last 3 years. The food was the best meal I have had so far in Basel. We start with a complementary taster of a wine/mushroom terrine with fresh cheese and potato salad. My starter was a delicious mini puff pastry with fresh asparagus, garnished with pesto, alfelfa sprouts and parsley. My main was outstanding...A duo of perfectly grilled beef in red wine sauce and veal in a morels mushroom sauce. It came with crispy dauphinois potatos and fresh assorted vegetables. For dessert, we had homemade rhubarbs sorbet with fresh strawberries in a yummy sabayon cream sauce. For digestifs, they role out a nice cart of whiskey, cognac, and port for selection. For 3 courses it was only 58chf, very reasonable for Swiss standards. All in all,no boring Swiss food here, just great dishes full of flavor and tasty delights. It is a local treasure and a must visit for expat foreigners like myself who appreciate great tastes.
