Coupled with a local beer it made perfect for a lunch in the afternoon....I will definitely be back. Service was good, the outdoor garden was perfect.
I say the food is good and the pictures look great. The problem is, I tried three times to eat there. The first two times they were closed. The third and maybe last time to eat there. We've confirmed her hours when... that day at 7:30. So we came at 6:40 and we were told quite abruptly that the kitchen was closed and we couldn't sit. So the reality is, this is just a lunch and early afternoon restaurant. TripAdvisor should correct their listed opening hours and they should do the same with their website.
Overall very satisfied with all the experience, we had the Pork Shank, the highest and a wonderful salad. Probably our first experience with real German cooking. In fact, we had planned to return the next day for a repetition performance, but do to...family commitments unfortunately could not. Hopefully it's only an eight-hour drive in the future. Of course, Chapala Ajijic is a plus at any time.
We enjoyed our young waiter and the owner taking an interest in our experience. Looks like a house, but conversion is well done.
We have been in Ajijic for eight days and that was one of the highlights, if not the highlight of our restaurant experience. Her sausage is homemade, the salad had the European flair to die the chocolate cake. They have their own in the house... beer, brewed in Ajijic, and it is authentic and tasteful. The restaurant is a bit from the street (near Walmart) and you need to go up the grass to get to the dining room or outdoor terrace, but it's nice, I can't recommend it enough!
