The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and offers a great selection of sides, chips, and drinks. The roast beef was extremely tender and definitely fresh.
The Brass Bear is a classic Alamo establishment that all locals in the Bay Area know and love. From high school to now, I have never had a bad experience here. My go-to order is the pastrami on sourdough with everything.
This is my favorite sandwich shop in the Bay Area. The Reuben sandwich is as good as what you would find in a New York deli. The staff working behind the counter are lovely. This place is truly a hidden gem in Alamo.
Always the BEST freshly prepared, delicious sandwiches and sides, served with TLC .Nice outdoor tables for our picnic. A fave place!
The sandwiches we had were OK. We both had Reubens. Nothing to write home about or even recommend. Meat portion on the skimpy side. Toasted bread, not grilled. I would never go even 5 steps out of my way for this sandwich but if I didn’t want a burger at Five Guys and was in a hurry maybe. For at least twice the price of a burger however. Two sandwiches, one bag of chips and two soft drinks were like $35 dollars. Really? Seriously? But the craziest part was the over the top rude service. We did nothing to trigger this treatment. While ordering my wife did change her mind about dressings a time or two but that was it and even that seemed to annoy the older man working behind the counter. Once the sandwiches were ready he barked at her that we weren’t allowed to eat inside. Really why? We both have our Covid cards. My wife calmly responded, if you are worried about Covid may you can put your mask over your nose instead of just your mouth. But OK, we sat outside and had our average, at best, sandwiches. Then I went inside to just throw the wrapping away and maybe recycle the drink glass bottles. More barking, “no, walk all the way down to the corner and throw you garbage in the shopping center's trash bin Really, again. For $35 dollars you can’t manage the refuse of your customers? Then I dared asked if I might use the restroom, a really nasty NO. We have no restrooms At that point I told the man he was very rude and we would not be retuning to his deli. To which he said fine, I don't care. I did not raise my voice or use profanity, just told him I would be writing a review of his establishment so here it is. I would say avoid Brass Bear Delicatessen if you can. Or just go to Safeway and get a sandwich there that’s twice the size and half the price and about the same quality. And as a bonus, no rude man at the counter.
