The Peasant's Courtyard - Alamo

Food is very good. I gave four stars for the extra charge of additional small fruits on the meal. Not a big deal, just no notification about it when ordering, would be helpful. Price per person: $20–30

Lunch was great. Small restaurant charm. With great food. The outside patio is large with umbrellas for shade. I had the chicken club sandwich and would have it again. Oh, try the iced tea. I've been coming here a while. The service is always excellent. If you do end up coming here, eat outside. The courtyard is a very nice and relaxing place to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. I always order the biscuits and gravy for breakfast and the buffalo chicken salad for lunch/dinner and I have never been disappointed.

We had takeout, The good: smoke chicken salad sandwich was awesome. It has inspired me to try smoking chicken on my own to reproduce it. Ordering was straightforward and food came out quickly. Courtyard outside looks very quaint and well-shaded. The bad: though the food came out quickly, a worker said he needed to check with someone. After a couple of trips in and out and some eye contact led to nothing, I had to remind him and I'm not totally sure he actually ended up checking with anyone. We paid extra for soup alongside the sandwich and got a fruit cup instead. We also got the Louis Salad but I'm not sure we can adequately review it. I'm not sure if there was any dressing on it because it seemed bland and there was an empty plastic container (which I assume was meant for the dressing) inside the packaging with the salad. To be fair it was dead in the middle of lunch-time and seemed packed so I can imagine things get overlooked. That same worker seemed to be working hard and was dealing with some wrong orders from the kitchen. What did seem willful though was that awkward moment when you're asked to select a tip. The lowest option was 25% and the others were 30 and 35% I believe. Even for a sit-down that's quite an ask. You can obviously decline to tip or choose a custom amount but in my opinion, there's only one reason to present those as the pre-selected options.
