It's been a while since I was last there. I would return to Zarris at least once a week in the 1980s, when in high school leave intermittently to my city and visit from time to time. I always got the poor boy and loved him and this time I ordered the Poor Boy Deluxe on sourdough. It was good. The meats were all delicious, the products were very fresh and the sourdough was fresh with a crispy crust. I think next time I go back to the normal poor boy, for some reason the deluxe just didn't do it for me. The service was excellent, fast and they were very nice. The inside seems it hasn't changed much since I was a teenager and that's a good thing. Very cool. Still got this real deli feeling, because it's a real deli, how about that? All in all, this is a really good place to get a sandwich. I'm sure I'm always in town for business, but I'm gonna get the normal poor boy now. *New Follow @WhatsEatingMo Twitter IG YouTube Reviews and Videos on all kinds of stuff, places and food.
Great, straight, old-fashioned deli. I have come here since 1983 and still love the regular Deli sandwiches that seem more difficult to find. (Gregoire and Summer Kitchen are excellent, but you can't get turkey on rye! Family business, at least in the second generation. The owner is very personal and lived in Spain. Ask him if it's not too busy.
The hot chicken pesto sandwich fired my dopamine receptors — I felt like I was levitating — good to the last bite.
Zarri’s is a lovely deli where they remember your name and sandwich. Special occasions for sliced meat and cheese or daily for a sandwich, this is the place to go in North Berkeley, Albany, or El Cerrito!
