Huntley Horizon Take-Out - Alberton

The food is good for a drive in but the girls on staff sure know how to make a beast of a milk shake. The price is right for all ice cream treats too. A must stop if your driving by.

Most of Huntley's stuff is pretty good, and the ice cream/dairy is top of the line in the area. The French Fries, however, are terrible. Inedible, and that's coming from a guy who will eat almost anything and never leaves leftovers. They taste somewhere between McDonald's fries left out for a day, and fries cooked in 3-day-old oil at too low of a temperature. Awful. Shirley's in Tignish has fries that taste much, much better. If their fries can improve, I will provide a better rating... but since they are a central part of most dinner meals they are a very important part of the rating!

The ice cream and milkshakes here are phenomenal. We come to Alberton every summer, and Huntley becomes a daily habit. Their 'mini' cones are perfect for kids who are heading home to bed (tiny servings for only $0.50!), and their baby cones are a decent size for adults who don't want a massive serving! Having said all that, I do love to get a LARGE strawberry milkshake and keep it to myself, so it's not all about little portions. We've eaten here for a meal before, and it wasn't worth it. At all. Stick to the ice cream, and get your main meal elsewhere. They're super popular, so I realize we may not be in the majority, but we found the fried food to be seriously lacking. Ice cream only! But lots of it :)

We visited Huntley Horizon takeout for dinner and ice cream. Needless to say the food wasn't awesome. In the land of the potatoe, I guess we were hoping for fresh cut fries, not cooked from frozen and the cheeseburger was nothing to write home about But then again maybe we should have askedabout the fries first. Anyways, we got hot fudge and caramel sundaes for dessert and they were absolutley delish!

​Great comfort food at reasonable prices. Enjoyed the clam burger and coleslaw. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice outdoor area with a few picnic tables. Car required to visit the place.
