Le Boeuf Saumon - Albi

A bit of a long, but fun, story.We stopped by this lovely little restaurant, just a short walk from our Air BnB. We chose to sit at one of the outdoor tables since the weather was so nice. We both ordered the formule and (although I honestly can't recall what we ate) we were very pleased with our choices. Dessert was actually amazing! We had this small chocolate tart, the pastry was lovely and the chocolate, firm, like a soft fudge, but it was inside that sealed the deal. Cutting into the tart, out oozed a wonderful caramel. So good. Funny thing then happened. We sat there with our desserts and ordered 2 coffees (we like our coffee with our dessert). So we just sat and chatted, waiting for our coffees before starting dessert. After a bit, the server came by to see if anything was wrong since we were not eating our dessert. We said that we were waiting for our coffee. The lightbulb went on and she immediately brought our coffee. You see, it is customary to have your coffee AFTER, dessert, not at the same time, hence the delay and the confusion. The next night we went elsewhere for dinner but decided to go back to this restaurant to share another chocolate tart. We got there and it was only the owner and her husband and they seemed to be closing up for the night. We explained that we ONLY wanted dessert and she said ok. We sat down and promptly were served our dessert AND our coffees at the same time (she remembered us from the previous night!)Afterwards we sat and chatted with the owners for a bit, wonderful people and they gave us some great tips about what markets to visit in the area. I was so very taken with their hospitality and friendliness and am only sorry I didn't write this sooner. You must go visit!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. It was good food. The decor is funky, the menu fun, and the staff friendly. Not much English spoken here but we made do.

Taking a lateral street from main square in Albi, we went in this charateristic restaurant with good choice of main dish. The service was good as weel the food quality. We definitely go back.

We arrived in Albi late and our hotel, Vigan, recommended this place.It is one of those resturants with a small menu, doing what they do well.We both had formula dinners and were surprised that the meat was so good, the best we had in France. Properly cooked, tender and reasonable portions. The smoked salmon appetizer was also a generous portion and quite good. It was not fine dining nor did it have great atmosphere, but it was comfortable, clean and pleasant. The food was quite good for the price.We would go back.

It was close to our hotel and we enjoyed a cocktail outside before going in for dinner. It is rustic and has a casual and warm ambience. Our meal choices were varieties of meat or salmon dishes. We chose one of each and a very nice wine to accompany. The wait staff were attentive and the food delicious. It was an excellent value! We would recommend it to everyone who visits Albi. JBD
