Flying Star Cafe - Albuquerque

Dropped in from Santa Fe for breakfast this morning and had a fantastic experience as I did 3 years ago. Excellent service including from personable service manager Jason A.

I eat here frequently, as it's a lovely place to meet a friend or come to work. I always know I'm going to have delicious food. Until tonight. Brought my husband and two of my teens, and though it wasn't that busy, it took much longer than usual to get the food. The red chile is usually traditional New Mexican red but tonight it tasted like western style chili (yuck) on top of a breakfast burrito that was cold inside and out. My daughter's handheld was also cold. They remade them, which we appreciated, but hubby switched to green chile and it had tomatoes in it. Tomatoes do not belong in green chile as any New Mexican knows. My salad was tasty but the chicken was dust bunny dry. A few of the dishes were questionably dirty as well. Idk if it was just an off night or what, but it was super disappointing.

This restaurant is a fantastic hidden gem with delicious food, especially the Pumpkin Pecan cheesecake! The service was excellent, we dined in for brunch. The price per person ranges from $10 to $20. The food and atmosphere both score a perfect 5 out of 5.

The seating is comfortable, making it a great spot to grab a $3.50 coffee, plug in your laptop, and relax while people-watching. The customer service provided by Natalie at the front desk was incredibly rude, and she appeared to be hungover. The Athena salad cost $17 but did not resemble the picture at all, just a pile of spinach. I left the restaurant hungry and feeling unsatisfied. Overall, the meal was not worth the price.
