Charlie's On Kiewa - Albury

This cafe may be simple, but it met our needs perfectly. During our stay at Quest apartment hotel across the street with an elderly family member, we were unable to go out for dinner due to the cold weather. We asked the cafe staff at lunchtime if they could provide us with some food to heat up in our oven later that night. The staff was very accommodating and packed up portions of quiche, meat pies, and a container of tasty mixed vegetables for us. We were able to heat up the food in the oven as instructed, keeping it at a low temperature for about an hour. The result was hot, moist, and delicious food. Their advice was spot on, and we were grateful for their help. Thank you!

I visited this café twice in the morning for coffee because it is quiet and I can read the newspaper. The owners are friendly and happy to have a chat.

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The staff were inattentive and dismissive. The focaccia I ordered was awful, with artificial chicken and fake Brie cheese. I will not be returning.

We are local and went here because we were given a voucher at the defence recruiting office over the road on my partner's enlistment day. The chips, pie and sausage roll my family ordered were cold and stale. The hot drinks were passable. The atmosphere was subpar and the cafe appeared dirty. The young lady who served us was nice but the older staff appeared unkempt with grease stained orange shirts, grotty aprons, messy hair and 3+ days stubble. We had to approach the counter again to ask if our order was still coming or had been forgotten and it wasn't even busy with one other defence family and a person getting a take away coffee. Good thing it was free but I would have rather paid and gone somewhere else.

Meals and service used to be great, but the new owners have let this slide and the customer base is sliding too. Need to lift their spirit and get Charlies back to how it was and should be, meals are OK, service very slow.
