Sentry Grill - Alexandria

The food at this restaurant is outstanding, and I appreciate the consistency of service since the same server has been there for years. Speaking of the server, she's fantastic! The prices are definitely reasonable which makes it my go-to spot for an amazing cheeseburger. While the decor could use some updating—it's reminiscent of the 1950s and gives off a hometown vibe—everything else about the place is excellent. It's definitely one of the best breakfast and burger spots in Alexandria. Unfortunately, their hours are somewhat limited as they only serve breakfast and lunch, and they close quite early.

If you're in the area, it's a must-visit! Their breakfast was absolutely delicious, and I have to say, their biscuit is without a doubt the best country biscuit I've ever had! Thank you, Sentry, for fueling us up for the next few hundred miles!

The same server who has always been there to welcome you is always a nice touch, as it's great to see a familiar face. The food is consistently amazing, which is a significant advantage in the restaurant industry. They provide that hometown feel that makes you feel welcome and comfortable, and the prices are quite reasonable. Did I mention that the food is always fantastic? It's definitely my go-to place for cheeseburgers! The decor, while completely outdated, might just be part of the charm they’re aiming for.

Stopped by for breakfast and no regrets. Flavors were fine, prices very fair. I like the vibe of this place. Building includes store. I did walk past front door unknowingly at first. Downtown is pretty easy to navigate and free parking plentiful. Downtown area had some pleasant surprises.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on April 22, 2022, hoping to try it for a while, but I never found the time. For lunch, I ordered the roast beef with potato salad. Unfortunately, it was just okay. The roast beef tasted like it came from a package and was drenched in teriyaki sauce. It didn't seem like something the cafe took pride in offering. The brown gravy also seemed like it was made from a powdered mix. In hindsight, I probably should have opted for a burger instead since it was around 1 PM. I doubt I'll return again. Perhaps my expectations were too high, especially since my dining companion and I had planned to check out another restaurant in the area, but it was closed for John's birthday. It is what it is. On a positive note, the staff here seemed friendly, and I'll give them credit for that.
