Residencial Ponto Grande - Alijo

This was the lunch stop included in our small group Douro valley tour…. A homemade port to start, sausage appetizer, Pork ribs braised in red wine w cabbage, rice, goat stew(? , beans w sausage…choice of dessert…the food kept coming. Most was Hearty and tasty , the bean dish almost a cassoulet- was the favorite for our group. Very crowded space. Quick service. We decided we would return

Arrived 1/2 hour before closing with a group of 6 and we were greeted with open arms. Senor Vieira served us a beautiful authentic Portuguese meal. It was delightful to eat what the locals eat. We were served a complimentary home made port wine and the house wines were delicious. We tasted the braised pork ribs in red wine, lamb stew and fried Sardines. It was so good we went back a second night and had the fried Cod fish smuthered in onions. Deserts were to die for. Eating here is a must!!

Overpriced meals. Full of carbs! We had to eat there because there are not a lot of places where to go but if you can try another. We ate cheaper and better in Lisbon and Porto

Unassuming but fabulous meal. Chicken fish pork belly and beef all cooked to perfection. Price so reasonable I don't know how they do it. Going back this...
