Mattar's Bistro - Allamuchy Township

What a delightful restaurant! The food was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. They offer fantastic seafood options, and we truly appreciated the creativity behind the dishes. Some highlights from our meal were the beet and goat cheese salad, the hanger steak sandwich, the scallops, and the pork belly appetizer. Our server was outstanding—very attentive and friendly. The restaurant also has lovely seating options both indoors and outdoors. I would definitely recommend this place!

We visited Mattar's to celebrate a birthday recently, and both the food and service were outstanding! I have dined there numerous times over the past decade, and Mattar's consistently delivers an exceptional experience. It's always a delight to chat with Mattar as well!

*Food*: The food was good, and I was pleased to find that the vegetables were properly cooked—not raw or mushy. Well done on that front. However, the dessert options were rather uninspiring. *Service*: Regrettably, the service overshadowed any positive points the food may have earned. Here are some specific issues: 1. When making a reservation, the app clearly asks for special notes. I indicated that it was a birthday celebration, but neither the host nor our waiter acknowledged this. I didn't expect a complimentary dessert, but a simple "Happy Birthday" or asking if we were celebrating something would have shown attention to detail. 2. The candle on our table was not lit, while all the other tables were. Another miss in terms of paying attention to details. 3. The waitstaff should be trained to avoid reaching in front of guests, especially during conversations, when refilling water glasses or serving and clearing plates. While I don’t expect formal French service, basic courtesy should be standard. 4. Fire codes require that exits remain clear, yet our area was not compliant as shown in the accompanying picture. Every staff member would benefit from reading "Unreasonable Hospitality: Delivering Happiness." The issues I’ve mentioned would have cost nothing to rectify but would have conveyed that we mattered as guests.

Been going here for years! Great food and great service plus a good selection of beer options and great specials. Can’t go wrong sitting outside either under a huge patio area. The owner is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and is very personable with all patrons new and “veteran”

Went to Mattars for a private party and had a really great time. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The banquet room was pretty plain, but served its purpose.
