Burgies - Alpena

The food was tasty, but when asked if something could be placed on the side instead of directly on the burger, apparently that was too hard for the kitchen to do. The waitress literally came out and said "the kitchen drew the line at placing the avocado on the side. Seriously. Instead of putting it on my burger I wanted it beside the burger, but they wouldn 't do it. Also to put chipotle sauce on the burger instead of ranch was a no go. So don 't try and make your burger edible the way you want it.

This is a little place that we were told had the best burgers in Alpena. We tried to go here last year but it was a Monday and they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. The inside is very nice along with what looked like a good outside patio. We all ordered burgers, duh. They were all cooked perfectly. All of the burgers were good, maybe even very good, but nothing special. The fries were ok. The onion rings ok. The fried brussel sprouts were good. Last year the had fried corn on the cob that I was looking forward to was no longer on the menu. The service was outstanding. Quick refills. Friendly waiters. Overall I'd say 3 1/2 stars that rounds up to 4. I actually enjoyed my burger last year at Nick's Southside Diner more than I did this years Burgies. Still it is a good burger. Will I be back. Sure, but I might try other places first.

Back in Alpena after 2 years. First stop, BURGIES! Still nice people, still great food.

The hype is worth it--Burgies is awesome. Locally owned and offering a HUGE menu and lots of local and craft beers, this is a total gem on the main drag in Alpena. Although the restaurant is a little on the small side, which can mean a wait, it is definitely worth it! I loved the Brussel sprouts, and I would challenge anyone who thinks they don't like Brussels sprouts to reconsider and try these. I love that there are multiple vegetarian options; and their veggie burger is great--love the burgers sauce and avocado on it! Everything is served in HUGE portions, so order accordingly.

I visited Burgies twice so far, both times while on an up north adventure. I had the salmon burger and a jalapeno and bacon burger, respectively. Onion rings are huge and home made. Beers are thoughtfully chosen Michigan craft brews. Absolutely tasty food, relaxing vibes and excellent service. Now, I have to really speak to the level of service I got from Burgies; Gail specifically. I left my credit card at the restaurant by accident. So after calling to inquire and finding out that I did in fact leave it there, Gail was kind enough to first, not spend any of my money ; , and second, to mail it back to my house with swiftness. Thanks Gail and the rest of Burgies staff! This is THE spot you go for a burger and beer in Alpena. You guys rock!
