This delightful relaxed cafe is located in the quaint village of Federal. Kind of the middle of nowhere this place is a fun drive deep into the Byron Bay region hinterland. Serving are generous and so fresh. the teriyaki chicken was mouth watering and so too, the prawn tempura salad. The sushi was stunning. The food experience was great and we had a good coffee. It is very basic accomodation however that is also the charm of this place. Delightful people doing a great remote foodie service very well. Good value, great fun and worth every minute of the drive to find this place. (A little hint if you relaying on GPS to get there download before you leave as connectivity is limited)
A friend who lives locally shared the secret of Doma. She drove us through windy rainforest roads to a little unassuming weatherboard cottage, the most unexpected venue for the most delicious Japanese fare. The place was so popular on a midweek afternoon that we were kindly invited to share an outdoor table with a couple their gorgeous dogs, reclining happily in the sunshine. It was worth waiting for the vibrant, beautifully presented grilled eggplant quinoa salad and hand rolled maki (the sweet potato pumpkin tempura roll was a vegan's dream) washed down with refreshing iced green tea.The flavours were out of this world, just the right amount of sweet salty. The contrasting textures, crunchy veggies, chewy seaweed soft rice were perfect the riot of colours were a feast for the eyes.A real hidden gem
Modern Japanese interpretation of Australian classics, reminiscent of N California... hippie chic... Excellent breakfast, brunch, and.... sushi (esp tempura rolls)!
