The food was excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and charming. They even serve frog legs! This place is definitely worth a visit on a daily basis.
I'm giving Shallow Shaft 3 stars instead of 4 due to their limited menu. The food is great and likely the best...
Came here for the New Year price fix. Service was very slow, food was not great. We didn't get our entree until 2 hours after we got to the restaurant. Prime rib was lukewarm.
This will have to be kind of a small review for now. I came here for a wine dinner and got the fixed menu that came with it. The food was excellent, with the frog legs being the best I've ever had. Until I come for a non-event meal, I'll just be a fan. I used to come here a lot in the 90's are early 00's. It wasn't kept up to snuff, and it's work to get to, so it went off the list. However, I had some great meals in the day. I remember being here after a day of Alta powder falling with friends that were visiting from Cologne Germany. The view up the mountain as the groomers were starting, the fresh snow, excellent food, and the porcupine working his way across the road as we watched from a table at the front window was perfect. I look forward to another perfect meal. This was a great reintroduction to the restaurant. Since it was a special evening, only the front room was opened. That gave me time to talk with the current owner. They've created a wonderfully comfortable space. The menu is small, but covers a number of areas I want to try when I come back. So, until then, all I can say is give it a try. It doesn't appear to have gotten a lot of local love, and it deserves it.
