My wife asked if she could order a side salad in place of the french fries and I asked to order sweet potato fries in place of french fries and our waitress said there would be an up charge for the substitutions and I said OK without asking the price expecting a 1 or 2 dollar upcharge. When our bill came the sweet potato fries were $6.00 and the side salad was $7.00. When I got home I called Cider House because after thinking about it I thought our waitress made a mistake but was told on the phone that substitutions were NOT allowed. Therefore I paid for 2 meals that included french fries but did not get the fries and paid full price for the sweet potato fries and the salad. If our waitress told me that I would be paying for the fries and the substitutions I would have got the fries and brought the french fries home since I paid for them. Also there is a note on the menu saying that prices were cash only. So if I used my credit card I would have to pay an additional 3.5 percent charge. The food was pretty good but I will not be going back any time in the near future. It is not unreasonable to expect a restaurant to substitute sweet potato fries for regular fries at a reasonable charge Steve Terplak Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50
8 of us went to eat after golf. I got a chicken sandwich with cole slaw it came with french fries. When I asked the waitress if I could get something besides fries she said “no”. I asked about a side salad she said yes for $8. So they gave me a side salad and did not give me fries. Then someone else at the table asked if she could have coleslaw instead of fries which they had because I had it on my chicken sandwich and she said they would never do anything as big as that. I worked my share restaurants and I’ve never seen anything so ridiculous and so cheap in my life. I have to tell you I don’t think I’d ever go there to eat again. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30
