El Mezcal Mexican Restaurant - Alton

We love El Mezcal! Absolutely the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant east of STL! We were welcomed by friendly and friendly staff from the moment we entered the building. They let us sit quickly and serve our chips and drinks. They kept our glasses and chip/salsa filled. Our food was cooked to perfection, hot and timely. Huge portions! We stayed to chat for a while and nobody rushed us out of the door. Very welcoming and family-oriented atmosphere. The bathrooms were clean and well equipped. We will certainly return and bring friends! Recommend El Mezcal! Good food and wonderful hosts!

The food was hot, fresh and fast. Children liked it too. We flew in the hour before closing. Don't know what to expect at night 8:00. The staff was very friendly. Kid friendly. Great menu, did not know that the fajitas burrito was only meat. The waitress didn't hesitate to ask me if I had grilled something. Nice place to grab a bit. will return

The place was not too busy on Monday and Thursday. The food was tasteful and filling. The service left something to be desired. We didn't feel welcome. There is hot sauce is very tasty and gives a good bite. We'll eat here.

Good Mexican food. My wife says Maistortillas are the best she ever had.

They accommodated 11 of us. Food was good and we all got just about the same time. We had a little issue with one of the dishes and it was fixed with no problem no arguement.
