Restaurante Dom João - Alvor

Very lovely dinner! The owner greeted us personally. Amazing service, really good wine, delicious food and fair prices! I would go back again!

What a wonderful family ran restaurant, have been now a couple of times, slightly on the edge of Alvor but worth a visit.

This spot is great for a nice meal, and great service, Fresh food and large selection of drinks 10/10.

Been to Alvor many time but first time trying Dom Joao. It is a very traditional place and always busy so booking is recommended. First of all, seated very quickly but it took a ridiculous time for someone to come near us even to ask if we wanted a drink or to give us a menu. The owner/waiter? was very pleasant and efficient and chatty which was nice and when the food came it was first class. We had soup to start and for mains I had my usual chicken piri piri and my wife had a fillet steak. Both meals were very good and my wife said the steak was one of the best she had eaten in a longtime. My piri piri just came with chips, no salad. The bill for the meals and a half bottle of wine and 2 large beers came to a respectable €42 euros. If we were to return we at least would be aware of the possible slow service

This restaurant had been recommended to us and so I was keen to walk a little further than the town to find it. The initial welcome by the owner was friendly. Our table was then served by two other staff. However once our order was taken and starters served it was very difficult to attract a server’s attention for either drinks or the bill at the end. The table next to us had the same problem. The food was lovely though
