Armadillo Grill - Alvord

I visited this restaurant for lunch for the first time. It was not very busy. I ordered the chicken fried steak, but found it to be small and thin. Another waitress brought my food but forgot to give me utensils. I had to wait six minutes to ask my server for utensils. Once I finally received them, my server attended to a couple of men, served a beer at the bar, conversed with them, and then brought me my utensils. If I had not been in a hurry, I would have requested a fresh cup of hot gravy to replace the cold one. Next time, I might opt for a beer instead of iced tea.

The restaurant in Decatur is now called BONO'S CHOPHOUSE SALOON, while the original Armadillo Grill can be found in Bowie, TX near US 287.

Last couple of times I've been here the service was slow and the food was barely warm at best.

DON 'T DO IT! KEEP DRIVING!!! A week old hot dog from a gas station would be better than this place! Worst food experience ever! Hostess was rude Ugh, just two. We were seated a while before anyone came by, but several people made eye contact with us. The lemons we got for our beverages were so old they were slimy, pink yet somehow were dry. Our food was dropped, server never came back. Ordered my bison burger MR came out well with a side of cold fries I don 't think it was bison either but only took two bites. The other person 's food was pancakes eggs. Eggs tasted weird, the pancakes were crunchy on the outside definitely cooked on the same grill as the burgers because there were chunks of burnt meat in/on them. Not to mention all 6 servers that were on (and hanging out in the server station) looked absolutely miserable. There were only 7 other tables. We ended up not eating going to another place. Save your money just drive down a couple more stops in either direction.

Stopped here not knowing anything about it- glad we stopped. The food was very good and the servers very friendly. The shop next door has some cute stuff to window shop while waiting for our food. We dont live that far and will be back.
