Puran Singh Ka Mashoor Vishal Dhaba

While returning from Himachal road trip with friends, one of my friend suggested to eat at this place just off Grand Trunk Road near Ambala Bus Stand.Getting to the real Puran Singh dhaba is a task in itself as every other eatery claims to be real award winning Puran Singh dhaba.However, this one is near Ambala Bus stand right in front of GT road flyover and it has a car parking as well. Very difficult to miss.Well my friend who had been here couple of times suggested me to have Mutton rice here as this dish is the mainstay of the place. So we ordered and boy how I lived it! I have a culinary background and I have worked as a Chef in Taj and I cook gravy Mutton at home regularly but I was bowled over by their perfect blend o spices.Nothing was overpowering, khada masala, garam masala, thickness of gravy, done-ness of Mutton was just right on the money, and the best part was that it felt so home cooked with no oil visibly appearing. Had a real hearty meal :)

Nice cozy AC restaurant. Food was great, not very costly. Had Mutton & Chicken dishes, substantially tasty, not very spicy.

It is difficult to guess which out of 7 Puram Singh ka dhaba is the original . Still the mutton gravy and roti is the best . The ambience is poor and services average . Avoidable until you are a mutton connoisseur.

In a long tiring journey who will not want to savour great good which is liked by famous news and food channels of India. I really liked the taste and the tenderness of the mutton coupled with right mix of spices which made the experience pleasing. Be there and experience yourself if you are a food junkie.

Had heard a lot about this place in Ambala, so we decided to take a halt for lunch while returning from our trip to Himach trip. But in reality this dhaba is below average, quality of food is worst. Chicky curry is like boiled chiken was dipped in some gravy. I will recommended do not even try this dhaba. There are so many better options on NH1.
