We love this place and have been here a few times but today we were told the wait would be 10-20 mins and it was closer to an hour. Then we waited over an hour for our food. People that sat after us were getting their food before us. The waiter did offer to discount our drinks but to be here for 2 hours without our food is pretty bad. I would recommend hiring more people, seems like staffing may be the issue?Update: After we've been waiting for over an hour, a lady came to offer some biscuits so at least we had something while waiting. As of 1:10pm we are still waiting for our food though and we sat down around 12pm. Food came around 1:15 and was fantastic as always
Food was great. Everything as expected. Service, well not so good. I was kind of greeted by a hostess who had her nails in her mouth trying to figure out whether or not I was on the waiting list. Once seated, we got to patiently wait for someone to notice we were sitting there. I actually asked my wife to set me on fire to maybe get their attention. It was like this from sit down to check out. Slow, friendly service. Very very slow, kinda friendly service. Make sure you carve out a good 2 hours for your Sweet Lake Adventure.
I had a craving for a special breakfast this morning. My travels took me to Sweet Lake Biscuits Limeade.Ladies and gentlemen, if this restaurant were a book, it would be a romance novel.I received a warm, friendly welcome and was seated immediately and provided with water and utensils. The mint limeade arrived and I already knew this was going to be an uncommonly remarkable meal. A tall frosty, sugar-rimmed glass overflowing with muddled mint greeted me. I settled in and let the anticipation begin. In just a few minutes, my entree arrived. It was love at first sight. The Hoss is a large fluffy split biscuit, towered with a succulent fried chicken breast, perfectly cooked bacon strips, sausage gravy, a fried egg, and crowned with the biscuit top. It tasted as glorious as it sounds. The room is attractive, simply furnished, and very clean. Staff are friendly and eager to serve. This is not a breakfast for the timid. I urge you to boldly proceed there, hungry with anticipation, for I give this spot my highest recommendation.
My oh my! We were angling for a second visit yesterday before our flight east but the traffic gods were probably there imbibing extremely satisfying and refreshing limeade instead of minding the roads. We were happy not to feel like tourists on a recent Sunday morning when friendly staff indulged our desire for paper menus. The waitress confessed that almost every one was new (a recent expansion) and their good cheer made up for minor missteps. The biscuits! What is a word that means “more than perfect”? The hall smells like butter when you walk to the restroom. And the yogurt with fruit was far more varied than you usually see. And the limeade: my oh my!
