Athena Greek - Amityville

I recently ordered takeout for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, definitely deserving a perfect score—it was absolutely delicious! The service was good, although there’s a bit of room for improvement, which is why I gave it a 4 out of 5. The atmosphere was welcoming as well, also earning a 4. I highly recommend trying the Chicken Islander; it was truly a standout dish!

As a first-time customer who has read numerous reviews, I can confirm that the flavor of the food, especially the chicken souvlaki, was outstanding. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience when I asked for the chicken to be cut into smaller pieces. I was informed that this wasn't possible, as the size is part of the preparation process and there was nothing they could do about it. I chose to visit the restaurant due to the positive reviews, but I found the service to be lacking, even though the food was delicious.

**Recent Incident** Despite our loyalty primarily stemming from the food, our latest experience was the final straw. We placed a takeout order for a family member's birthday, and it turned into a total disaster. Two of our entrees were completely missed, a mistake we've learned to check before leaving. Instead of admitting the error, Mike predictably turned the blame on us, insisted we pay in full again, and made us wait another 30 minutes for the items we were missing. In conclusion, interacting with Mike at Athena is extremely frustrating, and I believe he does not deserve your patronage.

My wife and I were craving Greek food, and as newcomers to the area, we were excited to discover this restaurant nearby. We truly appreciate the owner for accommodating our order just before closing time. Our meal was incredible, and it's difficult to convey just how much we relished the food. The gyros, tzatziki sauce, fries, and salads were all exceptional! I only wish I had ordered an extra gyro to savor later. We also regret not arriving earlier so we could have dined in and enjoyed the restaurant's charming ambiance. Thank you once again!
